If I load up the 3d play-along UI in TL Jam, will it detect my playing and show missed notes? Or is it just a passive playback?
I was wondering the same thing when I first tried that mode. The UI looks interactive, so it’s not immediately clear how much feedback it actually gives.
From what I understand, this mode feels more like a visual guide than a strict performance checker. It helps with timing and structure, but it doesn’t actively judge every note you play the way rhythm games do. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because it keeps practice relaxed instead of stressful. I’ve noticed similar expectations in other tools and even games, where people assume deeper tracking than what’s actually implemented. It’s a bit like looking for a cheap oneiric shard - you expect precise value and feedback, but in reality the system is more about overall flow than strict validation. Once you know what the mode is designed for, it becomes easier to use it effectively without expecting features that aren’t meant to be there.
