    Hi there,

    I'm struggling since I've upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu (Kubuntu for that matters), Tonelib Metal would install

    Problem

    The package ToneLib-Metal-amd64.deb was built with an outdated dependency:

    libgl1-mesa-glx (>= 18.0.5)

    On modern Ubuntu/Kubuntu releases (24.04+ / 26.04), libgl1-mesa-glx has been removed. Its functionality is now provided by libgl1 and related GLVND/Mesa packages.

    As a result, dpkg refused to install the package because it could not satisfy the obsolete dependency.

    Solution

    I extracted the .deb, edited its dependency list, replaced the obsolete dependency libgl1-mesa-glx (>= 18.0.5) with libgl1, rebuilt the package, and installed the modified package.

    Procedure

    Create a working directory and extract the package:

    Code:
    mkdir ~/Downloads/tonelib-patch

    Code:
    cd ~/Downloads/tonelib-patch

    Code:
    dpkg-deb -R ../ToneLib-Metal-amd64.deb .

    Edit the package control file:

    Code:
    nano DEBIAN/control

    Replace:

    libgl1-mesa-glx (>= 18.0.5)
    with:

    libgl1
    Save the file.

    Rebuild the package:

    Code:
    cd ..

    Code:
    dpkg-deb -b tonelib-patch ToneLib-Metal-fixed.deb

    Install the rebuilt package:

    Code:
    sudo apt install ./ToneLib-Metal-fixed.deb

    The application installed successfully and runs normally on Kubuntu 26.04 ! I don't have to boot on Windows for that any longer !!
