Suggestion: Improve Tuner Support for Sub-Bass Tunings

  1. Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Tonelib GFX v4.78 for a while and really enjoy its sound quality and interface. However, I’d like to suggest an improvement for the built-in tuner.

Right now, it seems the tuner doesn’t detect notes accurately when tuning to very low frequencies, such as E0 or F#0 — which are common in extended-range bass or sub-heavy setups. It would be great if the team could extend the tuner’s frequency range to support these lower tunings.

In modern metal, guitars are often tuned down into the same range as a standard bass, which pushes bass players to explore even lower tunings or use extra-long scale instruments. Expanding the tuner’s range would make Tonelib GFX better suited for these modern tuning practices.

    Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Expanding the tuner’s range to handle really low notes like E0 or F#0 would be a huge benefit for extended-range basses and modern metal setups. Tonelib GFX is already fantastic, and this tweak could make it even more versatile for low-tuned instruments.

Great suggestion about the tuner, I agree! Accurately detecting those ultra-low frequencies is crucial for extended-range instruments. Perhaps the developers could look into algorithms used in apps like Block Blast (surprisingly accurate pitch detection!). Extending the frequency range would definitely boost Tonelib GFX's versatility for modern metal.

Tonelib GFX is awesome, especially the sound quality. I have a suggestion about the tuner. I find it struggles with super low tunings like E0, which is tough for extended range instruments. Modern metal often uses these low tunings, almost like the addicting Slope Game – always pushing further down! Expanding the tuner’s range would make Tonelib GFX a top pick for modern players. It would be a real game-changer, just like the rush of mastering Slope Game!

I’ve run into the same issue when experimenting with super low tunings—it’s surprising how quickly standard tools hit their limits. It’s kind of like PolyTrack, where pushing beyond the usual range reveals what the system can and can’t handle. Do you use a separate tuner for those sub-bass notes right now?

Absolutely! If the tuner could catch E0, I’d suggest giving it a strong cup of coffee to stay alert for every note.
