just use a p bass and you're pretty much there

 

I use this patch to play "Infinite Dreams"

 

I run my JB thru this one and get a decent "clanky" sound.
Sounds better with the neck pickup at 90ish %, bridge pickup off and tone at 75ish %.

 

BMAN Set is the way to go, you may want to add a bit of Gain on BMAN100 and lower compression on Black Opt Low and High to 20-30, add BassPEQ if you want better sound control simply for example i set FREQ to 300 and Q 1.2
BassPEQ needs to be first in chain. Depends what amp you have.
BMAN Set works well for first few albums up to Powerslave, Powerslave Steve used different bass not sure which something like Ibanez i didnt mess with that sound but probably add even more Gain and it sounds deeper so BassPEQ FREQ set to 250 maybe, latter he gets back to Fender basses but...
Dont add much bass and mid on your amp 50% or less, bass may be at 25% on some amps, he has thin sound with not much bass and punch all about mid freqs.
