Successfully installed the Ubuntu version of Tonelib on Chromebook. However, it won't connect to my Zoom G3n (firmware level 2.0). Displays the message "Waiting for device to connect...".
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get this to work ?

Check your USB cable, it has to be a normal data-cable, not charger-only cable. Try a different USB cable.

For the ToneLib connection to be successful, the pedal needs to show up in the system as a MIDI port named like "ZOOM G Series". If the system does not properly recognize the pedal as a USB device, then it won't handle the MIDI-over-USB protocol.

I'm not sure if Chromebook (ChromeOS) has support for MIDI in general.

Many thanks for your suggestion. It's not the cable. I managed to download GuitarLab to an old PC and successfully got connected to the G3n. So I guess it's just that Chrome will not support the MIDI interface. It's usually a bit hit and miss with Chrome for free standing apps as they run in a separate Linux environment which is hosted by Chrome. But both Audacity and Musescore run well on Chrome although I don't think I've tried any devicde connections. Thanks anyway !
