    Unless your guitar is really noisy, why is the gate at the beginning of the chain? Makes more sense to have it after the noisiest element in the chain, like the Drive pedal?

    My guitar must be really noisy, because if I move the gate into any position but the first in the chain, the loudspeaker emits constant, loud noise, even if I hold down the strings.
