hi, does anyone know how to convert zptc files for G5n to readable files for G6? Or is there an application to read them transparently?
Internally, the patch files are incompatible. There's no direct way, like flipping a few bytes to get it recognized. G6 patch files use a different patch parameters section "PRM2". It may be just easier to dump the G5n patches and recreate on the G6, unless there are hundreds of these -- that's what I would do. On the other hand, risking some unexpected failures or possible bricking, it may be possible to hybridize this by cutting off the G5n "PPRM" section and attaching a G6 "PRM2" from a blank patch. If going that route, G6 .zptc file's byte at offset 0x08 must be 0x02, bytes at offset 0x10 must be 0x00, at offset 0x11 must be 0x10. Again, much more straightforward and robust is to recreate the patches manually on the G6.
the problem is that I have the file but I don't know the values because it comes from a G5n and I have the G6... what do you recommend? I also attach the file please rename .txt in .zptc
The patch is called "RECT SOLO", the effects chain: DYN:"ZNR" >> DRV:"TS Drive" >> AMP:"Recti ORG" >> FLT:"Gt GEQ 7" >> CAB:"HW4x12" >> DLY:"P-P Delay" ZNR:{On,DETCT:EFXIN, *Depth:100, *THRSH:21, Decay:0}, TS Drive:{On, *Gain:70, Boost:Off, *Tone:50, *VOL:71}, Recti ORG:{On, Mode:Vntg, *Bass:37, *MID:50, *Treble:70, *PRSNC:76, *Gain:85, *VOL:31}, Gt GEQ 7:{On, 100:0.0, *200:-0.5, 400:0.0, *800:2.0, *1.6K:1.0, *3.2K:-5.0, 6.4K:0.0, *VOL:24}, HW4x12:{On, *MIC:On, D57/D421:50, *Hi:70, *Lo:40}, P-P Delay:{On, Time:560, F.B:30, Mix:50, Tail:Off} You can build it up manually on your G6. I marked the tweaked values with *. You'll see that many parameters are not far off of their default values. I suggest you first try to simply chain the effects (with their default params). Check out how it sounds. Then tweak the AMP, the CAB, the DRV, and then the rest of effects. This way you'll learn which effects/settings really contribute to the sound you like. There's a similar G5n patch here called "queen bijou" https://tonelib.net/forums/threads/queen-bijou.9269/. It adds Chorus and Plate Reverb, does not use GEQ7.
hi electrotune, thanks for your contribution. The patch sounds perfect. I'm looking for a guitar "sound" to create with the G6 that is as close as possible to the cello?, horn? played here in Russina's riff A full, epic sound... Do you have anything to suggest to me? Tks
You realize that there's a whole orchestra on stage, with horns and cellos... Guitar is a string instrument, so the sound dynamics is just different from horn. Cello sound could be somewhat emulated by timbre, but cello is a bow played so it can produce a continuous sound. Guitar is played by picking mostly, again it's a different envelope. Said that, you can try to experiment with an envelope filter on your G6. For more "acoustic" string you may try "Defret" Bass effect, maybe adding some Polyphonic or Bass Octaver. As for the Sting's song in retrospect ... now the whole world knows the tragic answer to that rhetorical question. In that clip it almost appeared as if Mr. Sakharov (man behind russian thermonuclear bomb) were still there sitting in the audience (@1:44), he'd be for sure appalled to see russia starting this current war, and again openly threatening the world with its nukes. Many of those who literally were still children (back in time, when Sting gave this concert), thousands of these people have already lost their lives for the mindless ambition of the present day russia's "ruler". How many more thousands of lives should be lost until the world would finally muster courage to stop that maniac?
oh no no... certainly not... we entrust the song to Korg keyboards which already do their job as strings, trumpets, etc... I only need it for the riff ...etc... I was looking for something already made... I'll try as you said tks What can I say about the history of the song... we are just idiotic men
